Website Design Glossary
Tabindex
Tabindex is an HTML attribute that indicates the sequence in which anchor links should be followed when using the keyboard "tab" key to navigate a webpage. Without tabindex specified, links will automatically be followed in the order they appear in the webpage source code.
Tag
An HTML command used in creating a webpage and providing links to resources.
Tag Line
A line used in an advertisement that captures the theme of the ad or broader campaign and is placed prominently within it.
Tag Soup
HTML code written without regard for the HTML rules of structure and semantics.
Taxonomy
The science of categorizing or classifying things based on a predetermined system. For example, a website’s taxonomy is the way it organizes its data into categories and subcategories, sometimes displayed in a sitemap.
Templates (website)
Premade, alterable website designs where the general layout is fixed.
Text Ad
An advertisement using text-based hyperlinks.
Text Editor
A simple form of word processor that saves text files without formatting.
