Website Design Glossary
Snippet
Strings of text taken from a webpage and combined for usage as a summary or description of the page's content.
Source Code
In SEO, the HTML tags and text that define a webpage. It is the original textual form of a program.
Splash Page
An introductory page displayed for visitors before reaching the main page.
SQL
See Structured Query Language.
SSI
Server Side Include - a type of HTML that directs the web server to dynamically generate data for the webpages whenever it is requested.
Standard Generalized Markup Language
An international standard for markup languages. It is the basis for HTML and XML.
Star Topology
A network topology in which all peripheral nodes are connected to a central node. All navigation from any peripheral node to all other peripheral nodes on the network must travel through the central mode. The failure of a hyperlink linking any peripheral node to the central node will result in the isolation of that peripheral node from all others. A star network has a central node that usually is the index page.
