Website Design Glossary
PageRank Drain
When a webpage has no outbound links it drains PageRank because it cannot pass PageRank. Or the loss of PageRank caused by an outbound hyperlink.
PageRank Hoarding
A practice of getting as many inbound links as possible, while allowing very few outbound links in an effort to amass PageRank. This is regarded as a spam technique by search engines.
PaintshopPro
A Windows-based graphics program used for making and optimizing web graphics.
Parenthetical Links
Links which lead to a footnote or a definition. These hyperlinks are distracting and can cause a user to leave the website. There is no way to determine where the user originated, so a hyperlink back is not possible forcing the user to use the Back button to return to the origination point. A Glossary or Bibliography are preferred methods to use.
Parse
Analyzing a document or collection of data for their key elements to determine their collective meaning.
PDF File
Portable Document Format. A file format developed by Adobe used to capture most kinds of documents, with the formatting in the original.
