Website Design Glossary
Flesch Reading Ease
An assessment of text for ease of reading on a zero to one hundred scale, zero being difficult. Ninety and above should be readable by a fifth grader; sixty by a ninth grader; thirty and under by college graduates. Long words affect the scoring more in this test than in the Grade Level test.
Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level
An assessment of text for readability by grade level. A score of 6.4 would be readable by a sixth grader in the U.S.
Flesch-Kincaid Readability Test
Tests designed to estimate the ease or difficulty of a reading passage. Comprised of the Flesch Reading Ease and the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level.
Flight
An advertising campaign for a specific website for a specific period of time.
Fluid Design
Sometimes called stretchy, it is a website that expands to fill the width of the browser screen.
Focus
A primary ingredient of organic search engine optimization. Each element of a webpage should be highly correlated with each other around a common wepgage theme. The webpage theme should be focused around an overall website theme.
