Directory
A website containing links, titles and descriptions of other websites, grouped into categories. They are searchable but do not use spiders so keyphrases add no extra benefit generally to the webpage placement in the SERPs.
Discoverability
The ability of any feature to be found in the proper context for which it is required.
DOCTYPE Declaration
Specifies the Document Type Definition used in an HTML or XHTML document. This is required for validation.
Document Type
A short statement at the beginning of an HTML or XHTML page which tells the robot what set of rules should be applied on a page.
Doorway Page
aka Bridge Page. Pages that are optimized for one key term, but are designed to lead to different content.
Duplicate Content
Content which is identical or very similar in nature. Search engines do not like to index multiple versions of the same information.

Changes frequently.

Content that changes regularly, such as on a blog or e-commerce website.
Dynamic Webpage
A webpage that delivers content to a user based on information obtained from the user, cookies, or selections made by the user - drawing from an updateable database.
