Dead Link
A link to a page that does not exist, no longer exists or has moved.
Deep Crawl
When a spider crawls an entire website. Usually only one page is indexed on the initial spider visit.
Deep Link
Any inbound link with a destination page other than the index page.
Deep Link Ratio
The ration of backlinks pointing to internal pages of a website to total backlinks pointing to a website. A high ratio is indicative of an organic site.
De-Listing
The removal of pages from a search engine or directory index. De-listing could be a result of the website's webmaster or due to penalty for not following the terms of service, or because the directory is cleaning out or expiring files.
Demand Curve
The graph of quantity demanded as a function of price.
Description Tag
An HTML meta tag used in detailing the major theme or content of a webpage. It is the second item appearing in the listing for a webpage in the SERPs, directly after the Title tag.
Direct Hit
A system that updates the deemed relevance of each webpage by recording the webpages with the highest click-on rate and the visit time duration.
